Over the years, as believers we have talked about love. But, are we talking about the love that is according to scripture. Do we actually love one another as Jesus commanded us to love?

* A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. (John 13:34)

Agape, the God kind of love, is sacrifical. It goes beyond human love and intellect. Apage love is considered supernatural. When we received the Holy Spirit, we received the love of God in our hearts.

Well, how come it’s not expressed as much through believers if this is the case?

Agape love is expressed through and by faith. We can’t love others on our own. We can’t even love God on our own.

*For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love. (Galatians 5:6)

I believe God is desiring to operate His love through us not just amongst born again believers. But, also to draw a dying world to Him. First, the world must be able to see the love of God demonstrated amongst believers in order to believe that we are Jesus disciples. This is the fruit we must bear.

*By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
(John 13:35)

Are we ready for the love of God to be expressed through us by faith? Well, it’s only going to come way of sacrifice. We are going to have to give up our own selfish, fleshly ways if we are going to be true disciples of Jesus Christ. We are going to have to forgive, let go all offenses, reconcile, and restore our brothers and sisters. There must be a transformation within our hearts and minds.

*For God loved the world in this way: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

*And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
(Romans 12:2)

The perfect will of God is walking to His perfect love.

Believers, let’s strive earnestly to walk in the God kind of love. Let’s love one another as Jesus commanded. Remember, this cannot be done in our own strength but by faith. We can do it because Jesus said we can.
