Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage–with great patience and careful instruction.
2 Timothy 2:4
The word of God has instructed us to preach the gospel in and out of season. Our obedience in the word is not contingent based upon the climate of the world, but of the spirit and the will of God. Though the LORD is great, he cares for the humble, but he keeps his distance from the proud (Psalm 138:6). Our humility and faithfulness in God will keep us close to him in times of turbulence in trouble. The world may be in extreme chaos, but the people of God have nothing to fear, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” – Isaiah 41:10.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths (Proverbs. 3: 5-6). Our trust in the Lord is a requirement now more so than ever, and since we know, “no good thing comes from the flesh” (Romans 7:18), we cannot trust it in times of persecution and anger. But we should be more like Christ, and ask our Father to forgive them ( those who have wronged us) because they know not what they do (Luke 23:34).
Surely the Lord sits high and looks low, and sees the injustice and bias his chosen people face every day. The word of God says,” What is the price of two sparrows—one copper coin? But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it.” – Matthew 10: 29. God knows and sees all things, that’s why he told us that he will avenge us, and we have only to do nothing but stand.
Ephesians 6:13 says,” Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.” An indication that your armor has been penetrated is emotionalism that would cause you to act out in sin. “Be angry but sin not” (Ephesians 4:26).
Perhaps, if we examine this fully we can see that our issue goes deeper than racism, classism, and any form of bias man could produce. This is a spiritual battle and spiritual warfare that has been happening long before we were in existence on this earth. And if we trust God with our souls, families, jobs, finances, livelihood, health, and well-being; then we should trust his word in our time of trial and tribulation. If the good Lord has never left or forsaken in us before, why don’t we believe that He will see us through now?
I come to speak the gospel of Christ, and nothing but the gospel. I’ve denied myself, and I pushed aside my feelings as an African-American woman in America, and I still stand on the word of God, because I know that he shall fight for me, and others like me, and God Shall put an into all social injustice and any type of deceit you can think of. In the end, we all have to pay an account for the things we have done and said, and nobody gets away with anything. When we remind ourselves of that truth, of that love, of that gospel of Christ, we can go forward and endure and trust that the Lord will avenge us.
In this hour, Our power is in being still.
Run well.
