Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul (mind) and with all your strength.”Deuteronomy 6:5
In order to advance in the kingdom, whether it be earthly success or heavenly entrance, we must love what God loves, and hate what God hates (John 14:23). When we learn to love the principles of God and walk in His purpose, we advance the kingdom. In order to advance the kingdom and advance in the kingdom, we need to have a kingdom mindset. It’s important to have a kingdom mindset because, if we are practicing the principles of God we need to know what His instructions are, we need to know what to practice.
The Bible says, my ways are not your ways and my thoughts are not your thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9). This is because the Father has always been, and has seen all things that surpasses our human and earthly understanding. However, the instructions in the Bible is meant to reroute our human and earthly thinking towards the heart of God. When we change our mindset to understand the heart of God, we can develop in the principles of the Kingdom. The mindset change is the seed you plant to confirm the word of God.
A mindset change will always be followed by a change of action or change of coarse. We must step out from the patterns of this world and learn the principles of the kingdom. Once when we read and develop in the teachings of the Bible, we go out and practice it’s principles. Because that’s what the Bible instructs us to do. “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says” (James 1:22). When we practice the principles of God in our every day lives we produce the fruits of the spirit which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; (Galatians 5:22-23). The fruit of that tree will determine if the tree will be exalted or barren. “And all the trees will know that it is I, the LORD, who cuts the tall tree down and makes the short tree grow tall. It is I who makes the green tree wither and gives the dead tree new life. I, the LORD, have spoken, and I will do what I said!” (Ezekiel 17:24). It will also help believers of Christ identify who the true sons of God are because the Bible says you will know them by their fruits (Matthew 7:16).
An advancement in the kingdom comes when we have been discipled in the teachings of God, and doers of the living word. The Bible says “And if you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all his commandments (instructions in the Bible) that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the Lord your God. Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the field. Blessed shall be the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your cattle, the increase of your herds and the young of your flock. Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl. Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out. The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before you. They shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways. The Lord will command the blessing on you in your barns and in all that you undertake. And he will bless you in the land that the Lord your God is giving you. The Lord will establish you as a people holy to himself, as he has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the Lord your God and walk in his ways. And all the peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they shall be afraid of you. And the Lord will make you abound in prosperity, in the fruit of your womb and in the fruit of your livestock and in the fruit of your ground, within the land that the Lord swore to your fathers to give you. The Lord will open to you his good treasury, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hands. And you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail, and you shall only go up and not down, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, being careful to do them, and if you do not turn aside from any of the words that I command you today, to the right hand or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them” (Deuteronomy 28:1- 14).
When we hear the word and become doers of the word we advance the kingdom of God. When we choose to serve the Lord over the desires of our heart God will give us the desires of our heart if it’s an alignment to his will, just as he did king Solomon. If you want to advance in the kingdom of God, you need to be willing to deny yourself and first and work towards advancing the kingdom.
