Women; can’t live with them and mankind definitely can’t live without them, right; so the saying goes and rightfully so because a woman is made to be a helpmate for a man (Genesis 2:18/1 Corinthians 11:8-9); not the most popular position these days, I understand. Out of all of the Lord’s creations, there are few things that are as amazing as a woman; underscored by what God communicates in (Proverbs 30:18-19).
Some of the important roles of woman include that of Mother, Aunt, Sister and don’t forget Grandma now. When I think of ALL the roles that women have played throughout my life, I can personally and genuinely say that I am grateful that God created you ladies just as you are. Oh, I almost forgot one of the most important roles that a woman can have? That would be that of a wife. God tells us within his word in (Proverb 18:22); he who find a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord.
What is so special about a man obtaining a wife? Dare WE say obtaining an EXCELLENT wife? And what value does God see in a woman who is a wife? To find the answers to these questions we have to go no further than what the Lord has provided in the form of His written revelation contained in the Bible:
Proverbs 31 is a chapter that highlights many of the positive attributes and qualities of the ideal wife beginning with verse 10 through the end of the Chapter and concluding at verse 31. What is interesting is that prior to Proverbs 31:10-31, in verses 1-9, the Lord draws OUR attention to the point that King Lemuel is instructed by his mother to not give his strength to women (PLURAL) nor to ways that destroy Kings. There is a reference to drinking wine and the perverting of good judgement as a result. Could the Lord be equating women, other than one’s wife, to something that can pervert judgement of a Man/King? (Proverbs 7:21?) My Uncle Benny always tells me, to this day; there are two types of women in this world, and his father (My Grandfather, George L. Swain) taught him this; “There are two types of women in this world, one who can make a man out of a fool and one who can make a fool out of a man”.
Ok, so just where is this Proverbs 31 woman to be found? And an even better question is why does God liken the finding of this woman to that of valuable treasure? As we read within (Proverbs 31:10) – “A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies” The number of females in the world in 2018 is reported to be at 3,710,295,643 according to, www.reference.com: (https://www.reference.com/…/ratio-men-women-world-populatio…); surely there must be more than a few “Virtuous Women” to be found within this enormous figure? The question that comes to my mind is just how does this virtuous woman come to exist? Is she born this way? Has she met the Savior and received the gift of the Holy Spirit at some point? Or maybe this Proverbs 31 woman is so rare because there is a process involved in her unveiling that involves a washing/cleansing incorporating the word of God?!?! (Ephesians 5:25:28).
There is biblical support for the idea that a woman undergoes a spiritual maturation/sanctification process that involves the Husband Leading and Serving in a manner in which allows her to ultimately obtain a level of purity that God refers to as “without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish” and this is achieved by the application of God’s Word/Biblical principle as the Head of the Household (Husband) demonstrates these principles in everyday life; if it is to be done effectively, there should not be a case of do as I say, not as I do taking place. It is the Husband’s responsibility to cover his Bride, much in the same manner that Jesus Christ covers his Church with the Husband representing the Lord Jesus Christ himself in this relationship (Talk about BIG shoes to fill – Lol) and the Wife representing the Church/Bride of Christ.
There seems to be a lot of responsibility and onus placed on the Husband to present His Bride as pure and without blemish before God and if the Husband truly is a representation of Jesus Christ and the wife a representation of the Bride of Christ (His Church), we can understand why this is the case; because this is exactly what the Lord has done for His Eternal Church, which consists of ALL those who are genuinely in the faith (No tares in this Harvest!). Before we let the women off of the hook here, I must highlight that there are a few obligations/responsibilities on your part, ladies, that you must adhere to, if you are ever to come into your own in regards to the aforementioned Proverbs 31 type of wife and this involves submitting to your Husbands as unto the Lord, as WE as the Husbands submit both to you and Jesus Christ (Ephesians 5:21-24); this being the proper order of God’s institution of marriage which serves the purpose of providing stability for ALL involved when both Husband and Wife are properly aligned and functioning within their natural roles before God.
Within the above captured context, I believe a Proverbs 31 woman can be found, more than in any other scenario; however, it is not an overnight process, as a matter of fact it occurs as both the Husband and Wife grow and mature into their proper positions within the institution of marriage that God has designed exactly for the purpose of demonstrating the above stated principles and the manifold wisdom and attributes of himself (Ephesians 3:9-11).
To the Heads of House Hold, charged before God Himself with the ultimate responsibility of setting the right conditions for wives, no matter how their mother’s raised them and how holy/unholy they may have been prior to becoming married; someone once communicated that if you want your wife to be an Angel in your life, you have to create a heavenly environment within the home, because Angels do not live in hell and WE would be wise to take this to heart!

Genesis 2:18 – “18The LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.””
1 Corinthians 11:8-9 – “For man did not come from a woman, but woman from man; neither was man created for woman, but woman for man”
Proverbs 30:18-19 – “There are three things that are too amazing for me, four that I do not understand: the way of an eagle in the sky, the way of a snake on a rock, the way of a ship on the high seas; and the way of a man with a woman”
Proverbs 7:21 – “With persuasive words she led him astray; she seduced him with her smooth talk.”
Proverbs 31:10 – 31 – “Who can find a virtuous and capable wife? She is more precious than rubies. Her husband can trust her, and she will greatly enrich his life. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. She finds wool and flax and busily spins it. She is like a merchant’s ship, bringing her food from afar. She gets up before dawn to prepare breakfast for her household and plan the day’s work for her servant girls. She goes to inspect a field and buys it; with her earnings she plants a vineyard. She is energetic and strong, a hard worker. She makes sure her dealings are profitable; her lamp burns late into the night. Her hands are busy spinning thread, her fingers twisting fiber. She extends a helping hand to the poor and opens her arms to the needy. She has no fear of winter for her household, for everyone has warm clothes. She makes her own bedspreads. She dresses in fine linen and purple gowns. Her husband is well known at the city gates, where he sits with the other civic leaders. She makes belted linen garments and sashes to sell to the merchants. She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future. When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness. She carefully watches everything in her household and suffers nothing from laziness. Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her: “There are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all!” Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the LORD will be greatly praised. Reward her for all she has done. Let her deeds publicly declare her praise.”
Proverbs 31:1-9 – “The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him. What, my son? and what, the son of my womb? and what, the son of my vows? Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings. It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink: Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted. Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts. Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more. Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction. Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.”
Ephesians 5:25-28 – “25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her 26 to make her holy, cleansing[b] her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.”
Ephesians 5:21-24 – ‘21Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. 22Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the LORD. 23For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.’
Ephesians 3:9-11 – “And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: 10To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God, 11According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:”
