We are living in an imperfect world with imperfect physical bodies because of sin. We corrupted God’s perfect creation by the decision to not obey Him. God told Adam and Eve do not eat from that “one” tree. And, they disobeyed God to eat from it anyways and so, we all were born into sin.
Have you ever told your child, student, spouse or anyone, “Why won’t you just listen to me? I’m not going to steer you wrong. I know what is best for you. ” God says this all the time to us. Through out all of God’s Word, He says “Obey My Voice”. Aka “Listen to Me”.
When we become believers, we obey God’s voice and submit all of our thoughts to the mind of the obedience of Christ. But, this doesn’t make us immuned to problems, bad things happening to us or sicknesses because we are still living in this corrupt world and bodies. Though, we have a hope and been given a promise one day to live in a perfect place with a perfect body. While we are faced with and have to endure these sufferings, we now suffer for His namesake because Jesus Christ first suffered for us; He Loved us first.
Knowing, when we all get to heaven we will sing and shout the victory!! And, until we do, we mustn’t forget to rest and be still to remember God and who he is and all he has done, is doing and promised to do, if we faint not. We are weak but he is strong. Be encouraged by these verses below with whatever suffering you are having to endure and remember it is all temporary and God will work all things for our good. Let us thank God today we are able to rest in him and be still. Let us listen to him. Trust and obey for there is no other way.
Psalm 37:7
Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him…
Psalm 46:10
Be still, and know that I am God…
Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
