Doing things God’s way. What does that really mean?
Over the years, we’ve seen and been part of doing things our way while trying to put God in it. What do I mean by this?
Growing up in my younger years, in the church, there was things taught that was not really true. We’ve held on to traditions and legalistic concepts that did not benefit the Kingdom.
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. (Colossians 2:8)
We was taught rules but not relationship with the Father. We’ve had misconceived ideas and distorted views of who the Father really is. We have given others are perspective of a faulty foundation causing others to build on the same faulty foundation we’ve been taught. This have left the Church divided.
And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand. (Mark 3:25)
I believe we are living in a time of much division among believers because of the matters of our own heart. The scripture teaches us to beware of this. The only way we will be able to discern the difference is how we treat one another. Are we willing to sacrifice for others like the pattern Jesus left us to follow or are we in it for self gain?
*This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy. Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good. Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God. Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts. Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as their’s also was. But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience. Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me. Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them. And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
(2Timothy 3:1-17)
Let’s remain ourselves Jesus always pointed others to the Father. The focus was never on Him. Our whole aim is pointing others to Jesus (the Cross). Our message should be the message of reconcilation. Jesus came to this dying world to redeem us back to the Father. This is the true foundation and message of Jesus Christ.
*Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 5:16)
*Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade others. But what we are is known to God, and I hope it is known also to your conscience. We are not commending ourselves to you again but giving you cause to boast about us, so that you may be able to answer those who boast about outward appearance and not about what is in the heart. For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you. For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died. And he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised. From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation. That is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ. God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
(2 Corinthians 5:11-21)
