What means nothing to you, kept on the top shelf
Is a need and means everything to someone else
What is of no effort to you
To someone else, means they aren’t equipped to do
Your gift comes easy because it’s all the Holy Spirit
Don’t waste it away because you see it as insignificant
It’s not meant for you to have to strive
But it is meant for you to allow to go forth and come alive
To quench the Spirit is a sinful act
Only a vessel for God is truly fact
You produce nothing only a branch to bear fruit
To stop the flow of the Holy Spirit, hearts become hard and brute
Living for self, in your own will
Won’t you humble yourself and become still
Allow God to do his work through you
It’s the last thing you expected to have to do
It’s the thing that seems not important
Is the very thing in which God calls us to be obedient
To set aside our own works is tough
It feels like you aren’t doing enough
But, to be a follower of Jesus faithfully
It has to be All of God and None of me
Better check yourselves diligently
Make sure you’re allowing your gift to flow freely
Let us stop and remember to whom we belong
Make sure we haven’t been quenching the Spirit all along
How do we check ourselves to make certain
Fast, pray, study and train
God above all things, not what we want, think or moan
His thoughts and ways are not the same as our own
1 Thessalonians 5:19-25
Quench not the Spirit.
20 Despise not prophesyings.
21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
25 Brethren, pray for us.
26 Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.
27 I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.
28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
Now it shall be good for you to go to the Word and read the beginning of 1 Thessalonians 5.
Be blessed and be a blessing.
