Forgotten Christian History of China

In my last article, I discussed my sanctification process and about different transformations that I have undergone including my interest in Christianity throughout the world particularly the early Church Fathers. For me, this is just one more sign that God is continuing to work on me as the desire to know God on a larger scale grows stronger.

Over the last month, there have been different studies about the early Church Fathers and the origins of Christianity that have shown me many things that I did not know previously. When we start to research early Christianity then we find there is a long, rich history all around the world even in parts that are now hostile towards Christianity and Christians who follow Christ.

One region is the continent of Asia particularly the country of China and the Middle East. There were different study materials that helped me learn of this fact including Philip Jenkins’s “The Forgotten Christian World” published for History Today in 2009. By today’s standards, this would see like a fairytale as many parts of Asia and the Middle East are hostile towards the Christian faith.

This is something Christ warned us about many times: “Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution” (2 Timothy 3:12). When I was younger, I heard an old preacher explain that there was once more Bibles in all of China than all the rest of the world but now, you can’t find a legal one. If you don’t think this can happen to the United States then you don’t understand history and the ways of the enemy-Satan.

The Chinese Communist Party, or CCP, is an atheist state and while there is to be religious freedom allowed, very little is legal and if you’re denomination is not legal in the country; well, it’s illegal. Jenkins (2009, p. 32) explains that Christianity spread in the first millennium throughout most of the world including Palestine to Iraq and through India onto China but this spread was halted with the invasion of the Mongol invasions in the third century AD. 

Ending the Christian expansion is not a surprise especially with what we know today but in a strange twist to this story is how then Christians saw their invaders as liberators. That is, the invading Mongol army which began in 1219 by Genghis Khan was anything but liberators as they were invading terrorists. They did not mean to bring peace but destruction which is what Satan does. “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).

There was a great Christian presence in China but the Ming dynasty established in 1368 would destroy all every last bit of Chinese Christianity and the same was true for Christians in the Middle East as they were uprooted or slaughtered (Jenkins, 2009, 32). It should not come as a shocker to anyone in this country, or world, that China is behind so many of the world’s problems whether it’s the Wuhan flu, the 2020 Presidential Election, or any number of bad actions on the international globe but it should come as a surprise that many of the world leaders are on board with China.

Honestly, I probably should restructure that statement because it is not a surprise that so many world leaders are on board as we have learned that many of these people are on the same page. However, it should worry each of us greatly every Christian especially that these people are on the same page as a New World Order does not have any good outcome for any member of a faith group or any law abiding citizen who loves this country. Under such a system, loyal belongs to the government rather than God and it’s no longer about patriotism in your country but obedience to the government.

What has been revealed over the last decade is many of these world leaders including many in our country are on the same page about ushering in a New World Order-a one world government-and we can see this in behind so much of what these leaders have conspired together to together. God’s Word warned us about the structuring of such a demonic system and while many like to pass it off as a conspiracy theory, there is no denying that it is happening right in front of our eyes. Unfortunately, too many people believe most anything they hear except truth and question nothing but God’s Word.

In later articles we will discuss the New World Order and what this means and how it will come about. For this article, I want people to focus on forgotten world history as China was once a proud bastion for Christianity but now, it’s a resting place for Satan. Everything the country’s government desires is about greed and the love of money is the root of all evil (1 Timothy 6:10). While many of the things that come out of China seem like science fiction plot and when the alarms are sounded by those who show discern, they are labeled conspiracy theorists, what is happening is real but too many say that what we see is not real. Again, Christ also warned us about this: “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” (Isaiah 5:20).
