Too often people feel comfortable and confident that they can free their lives of evil all by themselves but this is not true and on multiple occasions, I’ve heard it said that the greatest trick Satan ever pulled was convincing this world that he doesn’t exist but when we look around at the world we live and for many of us, just the society in which we belong to, it is easy to see that he is alive and well.
In order to beat the devil back, let’s have a discussion about the reward the Saints (whether or not you live in New Orleans) will receive for their faith and devotion to Christ. This is important because, we as people are very self-conscious and insecure and have the wrong thought process. Personally, I cannot count the number of times that Satan has come at me telling me that I am unworthy and undeserving of different things and as evil as Satan is, he is very cunning and smart.
We should never doubt Satan’s abilities as he knows our emotions better than we do. Please do not take me the wrong way, this entire world is not evil and there are many pleasures here below but for all the pleasures that we feel here, there is evil and pain that lurks around the corner and before we get to the Kingdom of Heaven, we must advance God’s kingdom here below. Jesus tells us that while we are here below to seek first the Kingdom of God. Matthew 6:33 reads “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; sand all these things shall be added unto you.”
This verse is important but it’s also direct as we are to put favor the things of God over the things of this world or, to make God’s way a priority over all things. If we are to live with God, He expects us to seek His salvation over anything below. When you tell people this, especially nonbelievers but maybe even some reading this as there those who mistake this for meaning we are to neglect or overlook our responsibilities and duties while we are below and this is a grave mistake.
We all have responsibilities to do and duties to perform on a daily basis whether it’s a job, a task, or simply something we have undertaken but regardless of the position we hold and its severity, we are expected to see it through. If we have a job or a daily routine, we should make it a priority to do these things with God as a priority but many people make their job or their hobbies a main priority. For example, many people see their job as the most important aspect of their lives and while it’s important, it should never rank higher than God.
Work is important as God made man to work and we see this from Genesis 2:15 when God placed man in the Garden of Eden to work: “And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the Garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.” Jesus was a carpenter and so was Joseph and remember, we are made in the image of God and while we are on Earth, we will work and do many things and after our time is over here, we will also work in Heaven as God will have responsibilities for us in His kingdom. Naturally, these responsibilities will be different and so will the load.
And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and
—Psalm 90:17
establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of
our hands establish thou it.”
