He wants to please her, just to see her smile and nod
She just wants him solely to please God
He doesn’t understand where she has been
With all odds against her again and again
Stepping out of that boat
Blindfolded to leave all behind and walk across the moat
No rain, no wind, solitude she lived in
Putting her faith in God, another victory win
She’s trained to seek rest in the Lord for peace and stability
Yet, he’s all about doing things, for her to be happy
His efforts fall amiss, his feelings take a hit
Not understanding her only need from him is the Holy Spirit
“Go to God” she repeats, get in his word and prayer
Yet, he doesn’t go there
His eyes upon his wife, to work anything he can
To provide for her, to be the man
Her cries of “Be a vessel”, just be still
Fall on deaf ears being in his own will
She feels smothered by his every effort
She’s on her face in tears before God in His court
Finally, she comes to him with a need he could do
Then, he quickly shoots her and her need down too
That’s impossible and makes no sense, that won’t work, no possible way
Yet even in his doubt, refuses to seek God and pray
All she desires is for him to cover her in holiness and receive her with grace
To live a life in the Spirit before God on their face
Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
1 Corinthians 11:3-10
But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
4 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.
5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.
6 For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.
7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.
8 For the man is not of the woman: but the woman of the man.
9 Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.
10 For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels
