Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”

We must develop in the principal of Godly thinking in order to overcome the wiles of the devil. The Bible says “to be as wise as a serpent but as harmless as a dove” (Matthew 10:16.) Wisdom comes from God alone, so it would be wise to be in His word. It’s a good thing to meditate on things that are acceptable to the Father, because what a man thinkith he becomes.
If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.”
Colossians 3:1-2.
God wants to shift our thinking from our day-to-day worries and problems, and set our minds on the promise that He has for us. When we focus on the promise it becomes easier to allow God to do His will in our lives. When our thinking is not godly, it causes resistance in the spiritual realm. When our thinking is godly, it welcomes the Holy Spirit in to help us. When we focus on what we see here on earth, at times we can become discouraged. I believe that discouragement stems from our prior unhealed disappointment and our own impatience. Because we feel God is not moving as fast enough as we think He ought to, our perspective may become defiled by thinking that Christ is not going to get the victory. Make no mistake about it, God’s silence does not indicate His absence, He is omnipresent, and the victory belongs to Christ.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
Phillipians 4:6
God has given us the green light and has an open door policy to make a petition or request made known to Him in prayer. If we are to constantly meditating on the word of God day and night, it would be a wise thing to then bring our thoughts to our Father in prayer. We need to bring our thoughts to God in prayer so that He can correct our thinking and make sure we continue on the right path. Prayer is the perfect place to correct our thinking because it’s when we are submitting to God the most. It’s when we have quieted our minds and souls to hear Him. So as much as we are talking to God, we need to make sure we are actively listening for His response.
As we read the Bible more and more, and come into sonship with the Father in spirit and in truth, we will develop in godly character and fruit. God will sustain us where others have fallen, and raise us up, when others have left us for dead. Be encouraged in your thinking by keeping your mind on God and “ I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, Ephesians 3:16-17.
