Lessons Learned Rant

Over the last few weeks, I have learned so much about myself and others and one lesson one of the most important lessons that I have learned about myself is that I get tired of the doom and gloom messages coming from many leaders and television personalities. Day in and day out, it’s the same report or the same talking point and it’s poured out into the public as many people have simply accepted whatever they hear as truth.

In a perfect world, it would be okay to accept what those in leadership positions say as truth including those in the media but unfortunately, we do not live in a perfect world. In fact, the world in which we live is ruled by Satan. No, that does not mean that Christ is not in control as He is in control of all things but too many people have given Satan a free pass into the daily activities of their lives including many within leadership which is why we must not accept just anything as truth: “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world” (1 John 4:1).

Someone told me earlier that they believe the coronavirus is a part of God’s plan and is a sign of the four horsemen. All right, I truly believe in prophecy and all things are a part of God’s plan and that there will be four horsemen of the apocalypse but the coronavirus is a strain of the flu. If you go by the official statistics, the coronavirus has killed far fewer people than the flu and the same is true in terms of hospitalization which makes me wonder how someone who is a Christian would say such a thing. When I think about it, I go back to the fact that so many have accepted whatever they hear whether on television or online which is scary because Christians cannot put anything or anyone above the word of God.

Jeremiah 33:6 tells us “Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth.” The God in which we serve is full of peace and mercy but most importantly, truth. God’s word tells us that “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32) but the more that we get away from God’s word, the further into darkness our world will stray and this is true for every aspect of life here on Earth. While the four horsemen will be a part of prophecy and someday, they will come, this virus has nothing to do with a pestilence that is spoken of in the Bible and we know this because the virus comes from China in an attempt to stop many things including progress.

One thing that we do know for sure is that their plan has worked. No longer do we talk about the accomplishments of President Trump, no longer do we talk about independence of Hong Kong, no longer are we forming together for church services or Sunday lunches together, nor are we going to any sporting events or social gatherings including Trump rallies. While this is not a political article, I do want to stress the political influences behind the virus which is only a major story because it’s an election season and the fact that we are not having church services is just one illustration that Satan has his hand in this and one more way that we know too many Christians have forgotten about the ways in which our God works: “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;” (Psalms 103:2-4).
