This have been the cry of many people sometime in the course of one’s life. We all said it one time or another while going through a difficult situation that we have found no relief in.
Even in my own life years ago before accepting the Lord as my personal Savior, I remember laying on the bed one night after hanging out with a few college friends high on marijuana. The room was spinning and I do mean spinning fast. I wanted all to stop that night, but did it stop me from getting high? NO…ABSOLUTELY NOT! It was years later when I accepted the Lord to come into my heart. This is the life of many that have fallen into difficult situations and is in need of the Lord help. Although, using the illustration of one’s life before accepting the Lord, we still use the same analogy as Believer’s. We must understand that God hold us to every word that we speak before Him in His presence. When making an oath, we must fulfill that in which we have spoken.
GOD HOLD US ACCOUNTABLE!
Before making rash covenant oaths we should ask ourselves, is this something I am saying to get out of the present situation only to go back and do the same thing I was doing before or do I really mean it? Because God know each one of our hearts and motives. He know that we mean it or not but there are times He still come to our rescue. That’s just the loving Father He is! We have to come to the place of keeping our word to the Lord because I WILL is not just words spoken but words in action. I WILL!!!
If a man makes a vow to the Lord, or swears an oath to bid himself by some agreement, he shall not break his word; he shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth.
[Numbers 30:2 NKJV]
When you make a vow to the Lord your God, you shall not delay to pay it; for the Lord your God will surely require it of you, and it would be sin to you. But if you abstain from vowing, it shall not be a sin to you. That which has gone out of your lips you shall keep and perform, for you voluntarily vowed to the Lord your God what you have promised with your mouth. [Deuteronomy 23:21-23 NKJV]
*Do not be rash with your mouth, and let not your heart utter anything hastily before God. For God is in heaven, and you on the earth; therefore let your words be few. For a dream comes through much activity, and a fool’s voice is known by his many words. When you make a vow to God, do not delay to pay it; for He has no pleasure in fools. Pay what you have vowed. Better not to vow than to vow and not pay. Do not let your mouth cause your flesh to sin, not say before the messenger of God that it was an error. Why should God be angry at your excuse and destroy the work of your hands? For in the multitude of dreams and many words there is also vanity. But fear God. [Ecclesiastes 5:2-7 NKJV]
If a man makes a vow to the Lord, or swears an oath to bid himself by some agreement, he shall not break his word; he shall do according to all that proceeds out of his mouth.”
[Numbers 30:2 NKJV]
