All you need to say is simply ‘Yes’ or ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.”
Matthew 5:37
Double mindedness is the inability to make decisive decisions. The Bible says it’s from the evil one because double mindedness is a seed doubt.
But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.”
(James 1:6-8).
“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and that of a sound mind.” ( 2 Timothy 1:7) When we are sound in the word of God, it helps us to make sound choices, because we have a sound mind in Christ. The word of God is our guide, and the lamp unto our feet. (Psalms 119:105) When we cannot see the Bible should be our foundational base of thinking. The Bible says “it is impossible to please God without faith.” (Hebrews 6:11) and doubt is the very opposite of the faith, therefore it is the spirit from Satan.
Our faith activates the Holy Spirit. It is our belief in God that causes Him to move on our behalf. When we doubt we restrict the glory of God from touching our situation, allowing the enemy to come in and place seeds of doubt which would restrict the Holy Spirit. Instead of allowing anxiety and doubt to come in, make the spirit flee by saying “I can and I will.” The word of God and the name of Christ is what causes demons to flee.
Many times the seed of double mindedness is implanted in your heart by your speech. Speaking the wrong things will cause a spirit of doubt to come upon you. Life and death is in the power of the tongue.” (Proverbs 18:21) that means we have the power to speak a thing and bring forth success, and to speak of thing and bring forth destruction. You’re going to have to learn how to “speak the things that are not as if they are so.”(Romans 4:16-22) and “speak life.” (Psalms 34:13) to combat the spirit of doubt. Ecclesiastes 5:5 says, “It is better not to make a vow than to make one and not fulfill it.” That means if we have given our lives to Christ and are walking in His ways, we need to keep our vow to have faith in God and uphold His word. Your integrity and commitment is required while serving the Lord.
God said, “ Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” (James 4:8) our Father is telling us again that double mindedness (doubt) is a sin that keeps you distant from God. 1 Peter 5:8 says, “ Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” When our mind is full of doubt it allows the enemy an opportunity to sift us as wheat. We need to be protected within the bounds of God’s will. We need to be a yes man for God. Let this be the last year you spend doubting if God will send you His love and provision. Walk up right and know, trust and believe without a doubt God is with you, and come into a sound and stable mind in Christ. No more fear, no more doubt.
Run well.
