Today has been one of those days where I’ve had to literally tell Satan to get back as he has fought me each step of the way. Naturally, like any enemy, he didn’t give up easy and threw everything he could my way. He knows our habits and other things as he studies us. God makes everything good but Satan, he perverts everything that God puts together.
And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?”
—Acts 13:10
One thing that Satan loves to do is remind you of your past and the times you failed. This is something that he does with me often. Although these things are gone and there’s nothing you can do to change any of it, he wants you to focus on the past rather than the future. He wants your time focused away from Christ and the glories ahead and many people feel a lot of guilt about things from their past.
Satan knows that Christ has a glorious and bright future for His saints. He knows that what is to come is so much greater than what has been and he does his best to slow these things down. In other words, he wants us distracted. That way, rather than doing our best for Christ, we are living in a time that none of us can do anything about and if we allow Satan’s plans to prevail, we will miss out on what God has in store for us.
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.“
—1 Corinthians 2:9-10
Satan likes to remind me of the people from my past and most of these people were severe lessons for me. They were close to me and reassured me their loyalty to me but after so much help from me, when they had what they wanted, they were no longer there. Sadder even, perhaps, is that most of these people were my very own flesh and blood. There is a reason why they say blood is thicker than water but to that same effect, family is chosen for you so when you make your choice with who is around you, choose wisely.
For many of us, being reminded of these people and the things we allowed to happen is a trip down memory lane that we would like to forget. It makes up feel guilty because, while not meaning to, we allowed for their actions to take place. However, there is a real lesson (or lessons) behind each situation but typically, at least for me, it’s always a hard lesson but the best lesson that comes from any event is learning that Chris is always there for us regardless of what people have done to us so whenever Satan tries to remind you of your past or uses another one of his crafty tricks, just remember the mindset “Not Today, Satan!”
No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.”
—Isaiah 54:17
