For anyone who has ever known me or has read my writings know that I love America and what the country stands for. Everything scripture speaks of, America is about: freedom, liberty, opportunity, and on and on. There is a reason why so many people come here in search of a better life and why so many are willing to risk their lives to be an American but there is no denying that the America I grew up loving has been drastically shifted.
While there are many reasons for this, one of the biggest is how we, as people, have lost our sense of humility. This will always be a problem for people as people are very prideful and when pride is involved, humility is typically not. This is a problem for much of the world, not just America, but in my different travels throughout this country and different parts of the world, I have found that Americans are among some of the rudest and nastiest people.
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away [their] ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”—2 Timothy 4:3-4
Of course, this is not every American as Americans are the most generous people as a whole but there is a large enough portion of the American populace that makes you fearful. Why am I fearful of this populace? The reason is simple: not because of the way others see us but the way younger Americans see us but more importantly is the way God sees us. We have to remember that God will judge our nation and I do not feel good about a large portion of it. Sadly, I can see it coming now the amount of people who ask me who am I to judge?
Please note that I am not judging any person or a group of people but rather, pointing out how a large portion of our population has lost a sense of humility that once was rampant within our country. Being in the Southern part of the United States, it may not be as noticed as other places across the country but without question, it is here, too. There are many moments that I recall seeing grown children forget about their parents and all the sacrifices that have been made for them and event parents forgetting all the good their grown children have done for them. It’s a problem of the heart and it will not be fixed until our hearts are turned back to God.
Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”—Psalms 51:10
There are many who believe the American Civil War was brought about because the nation had turned away from God. Christ clearly tells us that a house or kingdom divided against itself will be brought to desolation (Matthew 12:25) and, sadly, we are still seeing this trend in today’s modern times. In other words, we are still fighting the same battle that we were fighting over one hundred and fifty years which shows that history will repeat itself if we allow it to.
Many believe that America is like the old Roman Empire that ruled the rule with an iron fist and that our might and strength, while great, will never be defeated by an outside foe but rather, brought to desolation by those within. In other words, while no enemy will defeat our military might and the intelligence of our military leaders, there is a great threat to our survival and it’s from the inside much like our very own Trojan Horse that will be our downfall and if we do not humble ourselves before God, it may come soon than any of us would like.
But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:”—Deuteronomy 18:15
