Time Changes All Except God and His Blood

Today, much of the world tells Christians that their book, God’s word, is out of date and irrelevant to our modern times but no book has done more to change this world than the Bible. While time changes us all whether for the better or worse, what never changes is that it’s still the blood of Christ that covers all and, above all else, most importantly, sin: ”For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

Sin is something that we all have in common as no man or woman is sinless and no person, aside from Chris, has ever lived a sinless life but when we have Christ, we are new creatures. Yes, we will still sin but with God’s blood, we are covered from these sins and can have the assurance of eternal salvation in Heaven.(John 3:16). When we accept Christ, our hearts change and the things that we knew and loved are different. No, we can still be tempted by such things just like Satan tempted Christ but we are now set apart from this world (Romans 12:2).

This is one of the biggest problems that I have noticed amongst many here today as the one thing that we should all expect in life is change and this is true rather you are eight or eighty (James 4:14). When you’re eight, your world revolves around your family particularly your parents as you are just beginning learning the basic fundamentals of life such as education and morals and when you are eighty, while you have learned much throughout your journey, your life revolves around a set schedule that differs for most elders (28:13).

Everyone has probably known someone who seems to never grow up and/or stay the same even after twenty years and while personalities may stay the same, the person cannot. Sadder, many people refuse to accept the changes that occur around them and while some are bad, change is not always bad and in many cases, is necessary before growth can happen. The Bible is rather clear that we must learn to move forward before we are able to mature and become more: “Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God” (Hebrews 6:1).

Many people probably never think about such a concept as life passes by and I was the same way until, one day, Christ revealed to me that while life’s circumstances will change, He will never change. He is literally the same today as He was yesterday and He will be the same tomorrow as He is today (Hebrews 13:8). While we will read this many times, it often does not resonate with us until we are shown a better understanding.

The reason for this is that human beings are simply incapable of completely understanding God and all that He is and does and while we do accept His word as truth, we are unable to grasp certain aspects and this is one of them. After all, as humans, everything around us changes including ourselves and because we are made in God’s image, surely God is the same. While we are made in God’s likeness, God is much more than any of us. This is why we are told to be like Christ (Ephesians 5:1-2).

While on Earth, the target is Christ but as we see with any of the apostles or disciples and any one of those that came in contact with Christ and the rest of humanity, perfection is impossible. This is why the blood of Christ was needed and is still needed even in a world as advanced as us. It’s still the blood of Christ that saves us from sin and our eternal destruction and it’s still the blood of Christ that allows for us to become more.(Ephesians 1:7). The sacrifice on the cross did more than just change the world but it, literally, changed the path of humanity for the different millenniums and generations to come but through this change, we are able to become more and do more than we ever thought possible (Hebrews 13:12). .
