We all have issues, been lied to, cheated on and used.
Jeremiah 17:5 – Thus saith the LORD; Cursed [be] the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.
Yet, time and times again we put our trust in so many people. Then, we wonder why or how someone would break their word, not fully honest or is down right deceitful.
2 Timothy 3:13-17 – But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
Faith takes a trust that most have no idea, nor care to know what it means or even entails. Because so, we can find ourselves putting our trust in man rather than Yahuah alone!
This leads us to another problem with exercising faith. In order to have faith, we must be able to trust fully. To trust Yahuah, we must do so with all of our heart, mind, body and soul.
I, personally, on a “rocky steep climb” put my trust in man. I found myself losing everything and almost my very life. And, yes there was a time I lost my faith in Yahuah. It was the darkest place I have ever been in, in all of my life. Even though, it was only 3 days total lights out, it was death that felt like eternity. Thankfully, Yahuah didn’t give up on me so quickly and pulled me right out of that “death zone” that I put myself in by not putting my full trust in Yahuah. I allowed my trust to take hold of man more so and had to repent!
2 Peter 3:9 – The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
To trust, one must understand, meaning to stand under.
Proverbs 4:7 – Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
Faith is not a feeling, a wish, a thought nor a luck of the draw. Faith consists of a deliberate act to do something. Even, if it means to let go, let Yahuah, be still, know he is Elohim and do nothing. Faith has to have works of obedience to “stand under” and “take hold of” or it is not faith.
Proverbs 3:5 – Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
We are to understand, as to comprehend and to perceive. Perceive comes from capere, “take hold of.”
In this next verse, David trusted, stood under and took hold of Yahuah’s purpose and plan for him to do. He did so by exercising his faith in works of obedience. It didn’t matter who tried to kill him or what someone else promised him. Nor, did he lean to his own understanding, he knew this was not for his benefit.
2 Samuel 5:12 – And David perceived that the LORD had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel’s sake.
During my current, “rocky, steep climb”, I struggle at times in my own understanding to let go of Yahuah just enough to take hold of something or someone else.
Yesterday, I had someone hear my struggle. They encouraged me, “Don’t let love get in your way, stay focused and persevere in the purpose and plan Yahuah has for you. Hold onto him alone.” I was edified, “Yeah! Don’t let love get in the way, or you’ll be led astray. Let LOVE be the way and on the narrow path you’ll stay.”
1 Timothy 6:20-21 – 20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:
21 Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.
Let us not err in our own understanding, thoughts or feelings. But, let us stay in faith in all obedience.
John 15:4 – Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
