Whom Have I?

Kristine Cucinotta Murphy

Sometimes people are there for you
Sometimes no one can be found faithful and true

Sometimes we look to people first
And wonder why for love we hunger and thirst

People are only in passing by
Here and then gone, asking God why

Even living together or married as well
People have their own relationship to build, a story to tell

Not always on the same page
Learning at a different pace

Some are advanced, some have fallen
Many return, some you never see again

Sometimes we are brought to the desert
Crying of all our sorrow and hurt

Though none go with me
In this journey of suffering in longevity

A hope to be made righteous and holy
Ears to hear and eyes to see

The purpose of life isn’t our relationship with just anyone
But, a personal relationship with God’s only begotten son

To be tighter with God than any other
Even tighter than a spouse or mother

Hard to imagine that ever could be
Until they fail you and leave you empty

Angered and crying for a love only God can give
Back in the pit of misery, why must I be alone to live

Until we keep our mind on things above
We truly know not love

As much as we cry for a relationship with a person
Is as much as God cries for us to have a relationship with his Son

Readying for a heavenly marriage, bride of Christ
The only way, the only truth and the only life

Psalm 73:25-26
Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.

26 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.
