And I have promised to bring you up out of your misery in Egypt into the land of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites–a land flowing with milk and honey.”
Ezekiel 3:17
Often times we sit back and daydream about what our promise land will look like. We imagine ourselves being financially free, wealthy, healthy, spiritually inclined and thriving. The Bible even and says speak these things that are not as if they are so, ( Romans 4:17) so it’s a great thing to envision your self living the life you want to live.
We hear things like milk and honey and surely know that is an oasis created for us without resistance, stress, or pain. Well, at least that’s what we tell ourselves. But if you keep reading the Bible, it’s says after Moses struck the rock and could not enter the promised land, the prophet Joshua led them into the promised land and “When they came to the valley of Eshcol, they cut down a branch with a single cluster of grapes so large that it took two of them to carry it on a pole between them! They also brought back samples of the pomegranates and figs”. ( numbers 13:23). So the land that was overflowing with milk and honey which is a parable, meaning; you will have plenty, was the same land the Nephilim’s (giants) lived. Why do you think the grapes were twice the size of human heads, it’s because they weren’t for human hands. The Israelites so scared of coexisting with intimidating giants decided to leave the land that was promised to them by God.
How many times have you worked hard for something and the Lord advanced you, but when you got there it wasn’t what you expected? Perhaps a promotion on the job has gotten you excited but once you got the position you realized how much work and responsibility really came with it. Or you’ve gotten married and realized marriage is real work. The honeymoon phase is over and there you are expecting everyday with your spouse to feel like your wedding day.
Our expectations can get in the way of God’s will when we don’t have the mind of God. And since his ways are not our ways, and his thoughts are not our thoughts we must stick to the plan and not abort the mission prematurely. Too many times God has given us blessing and opportunities of advancement and we quit before the miracle happens. Do not let the giants of your situation, get in the way of the land God has promised for you. (Whether that be your property, your husband or wife, your family, your children, your job, your dream car, ect). Being in the will of the Father, is always the true oasis and promise land. Run well.
